Congregational Renewal
Church is about being the Body of Christ in the world! It's compassion, love, kindness, joy, hospitality, generosity and so much more! It's ALWAYS changing because it reflects the people who are present and living our Faith. Sometimes we just need to be reminded of what we're about--loving God, Loving people! Join us in the reminders, creative challenges, accountability and joy of faithing!
"We've ALWAYS done it this way!"
"We need more people so I don't have to do this anymore"
"I'm Tired! We HAVE to do this tradition"
"Since Covid..."
I'm sure you can add to the many quotes that have been said over the past few years that remind us we have a "problem".
1...none of our problems are truly new!
2...We ALL get tired and need refreshed
3...we are not called to stand alone!
We, the church, is an EVER CHANGING Body reflecting the Holy Spirit's movement, our centered discpleship to Christ and our Worship of God the Creator of ALL!
Join us in the conversation of Church life
We are exploring ways to give church a fresh energy, renew our leaders
and keep the fire burning to move forward.
The landscape of the world has changed and so has the church, but we aren't dead!
We just need to step forward into what God is calling us into.
Congregational Renewal is not a program, it's an approach to life
--collaborative leadership, community impact--
focused on loving God and people as part of the Beloved Community.
We are called to be the church--the Body of Christ
Monthly Thriving Church Book Discussion Group

Regional Discussion Group To Explore How Thriving Congregations Are Collaborative on May 28th
Congregations and leaders across our Regional Church continue to be inspired by the research and wisdom of the Rev. Dr. Erin Cash and the Rev. Dr. Kory Wilcoxson offered their book: Thriving Congregations: What We Can Learn From Thriving Congregations. Through a monthly Zoom conversation we are unpacking the learning of how congregations are able to thrive.
There are 10 chapters (plus intro and conclusion) that are making for a great year of discussion (with no group meeting for June & July and adding the intro to Chapter 1 and the conclusion for Chapter 10). This month we meet on Thursday, May 28th promptly at 7 p.m. and will focus on the fifth learning, "Thriving Congregations Are Collaborative,” pp. 57-67. We continue each month on the fourth Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (3rd Thursday in November and December).
If you would like to participate in this Book Discussion Group and have not already done so, please send an email to ccio@ccinoh.org with the subject line "Sign Me Up For Thriving Church Book Discussion Group” and a Zoom link will be sent to you prior to the first meeting. If you do not already have the book, you can purchase one at Thriving Church: What We Can Learn from Faithful Congregations — Chalice Press or by calling 1-800-366-3383.

Congregational Renewal Retreat
A Committed Church for Chaotic Times (Matthew 14:6-20)
with Rev. Derrick Perkins, Director for Congregational Vitality & Innovation
Disciples Home Missions
Saturday, November 21 IN PERSON at Camp Christian 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
SAVE THE DATE! Join us for a daylong conversation with Rev. Derrick Perkins, who will speak with us about congregational renewal and becoming congregations who are prepared and living "For Such a Time as This".
Derrick is the Director for Congregational Vitality and Innovation for DHM. Prior to joining DHM, Derrick was the Pastor of Centennial Christian Church in St. Louis, MO. While at Centennial, Rev. Perkins provided significant leadership in developing ministry programs and partnerships that address and engage social determinants, health disparities, food insecurity, education, communal uplift, cultural enrichment, and more. Under Rev. Perkins’ leadership, Centennial became a community hub, providing resources for families and residents in Fountain Park, Lewis Place, and many neighborhoods throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Rev. Perkins has a history of providing leadership, consulting, and program support for many not-for-profit organizations locally and nationally.
Born and raised in urban communities affected by poverty and systemic injustice, he has embraced ministry and dedicated his life to partnering with God's mission to establish justice for all God’s people. Derrick’s motto for living is “Only what you do for Christ is going to last!”
