Be Still & Know – Selah
We’re looking forward to a very exciting Adult Conference this year to be held at Northwest Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio from June 19-23, 2017. The Rev. Dr. Judy A. Alston, Professor at Ashland University, is our Vesper Speaker. Dr. Lisa Davison, Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, is our daily Bible Lecturer. Conferees may choose two of the four classes we are offering. Our teachers and their classes are:
Rev. Harry & Rev. Deb Bolen, Retired & Pastor at Cambridge First Christian –
“Everyday Life in the Spirit”
Our class will focus on how to use everyday events to further develop a deeper sense of the presence of God in your own personal life. We will practice several spiritual disciplines and explore different ways people have seen their everyday lives as gifts to God. "Be still, and know that I am God . . ." (Psalm 46:10)
Bob Freisthler, Music Teacher - “Songs of Meditation”
A class devoted to music written to aid or facilitate a spirit of meditation and prayer.
Rev. Christopher Stark, Pastor at Niles First Christian -
“Mindfulness in the Midst of Tumult”
With current issues, business, and general stressors constantly tugging at our attention, our group will take intentional time to focus on the present and listen for the voice of God in our midst. Using different forms of mediation, this class will consider and practice the theological implications and personal benefits of intentional mindfulness.
Rev. Dr. John (Tim) Savage, Retired – “Developing Spiritual Intimacy with God”
This brief workshop will explore four different concepts about God. A different one each day. 1) The gentleness of God - during the workshop we will experience this concept. 2) The whisper of God- Learn how to hear the whisper. 3) Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. How does that happen? What is the will of God on earth? 4) How to build a profound spiritual support group. John has survived three bouts of cancer. How is that possible?

Adult Conference is full of endless possibilities where faith is deepened and broadened, ministry leaders are born and nurtured, and fellowship within the wider Church is strengthened. Adult Conference is an inclusive, welcoming place, where conferees are free to explore issues openly, honestly, and without judgment. Through Adult Conference, conferees may find that God is calling them to explore horizons they had never considered or even dreamed of before. We hope that many will be able to experience the far-reaching impact that Adult Conference has in the lives of individuals.
